NOTICE: New Retail Hours: As of Tuesday, July 13, 2010 ~ our new retail hours will be Tuesday -- Wednesday -- Thursday from 2 - 6 PM. We will no longer be open for retail sales on Friday mornings! However, as always, we can arrange additional retail/shopping hours by appointment ... jjust give us a little time to get there and we'll try to accommodate your needs.
FLOWERS OF HOPE: Once again, the studio will be helping Hattiesburg's Breast Cancer Awareness Team provide stained glass panels to area breast cancer survivors. BCAT indicates that we will need 36 panels to provide panels for patients celebrating their first year of survivorship this October. If everyone who has already signed up actually makes the panels they have promised, we will have 25 panels . . . leaving a shortfall of 11 patients. Sooooo, if you haven't signed up to help with this project, please, please, please let me hear from you ~ this has always been such a wonderfully giving stained glass community, and I know we can keep this project going. If you have already signed up, Please, please, please DO make your panel, and get it to me as soon as you can, so that I can stop worrying! Remember that we have loads of donated glass that can be used for these projects, so if you are trying to find "just the right color", come see if there is something in the free pile that can help.
To help those of you who may be struggling to complete a Flowers of Hope project, the studio will host an "FOH workday" on Saturday, September 11 from 9A - 2P. (NOTE: This is a date change because the previous date was the Labor Day weekend). Also, this is a USM home football game ~ hopefully we will be able to celebrate completing our panels at the tailgate pre-game! This will be "free studio time" for participants in the Flowers of Hope project, to use our materials and equipment. Deadline for receipt of the completed projects (ready to hang), is September 23 (this gives me time to make your tag for the exhibit at the Library!)
We have set the date for the 7th annual Flowers of Hope Reception, honoring the participating artists as well as area breast cancer survivors: from 4-7PM on Thursday, September 30, 2010, at the downtown Hattiesburg branch of the Library of Hattiesburg, Petal & Forrest County (329 Hardy Street), the public will be invited to take a sneak peak of all the panels from this year's project on exhibit in the galleries at the Library. This year's Flowers of Hope panels will remain on display in the galleries at the Library the first 2 weeks of October (October 1 - 15, 2010), before being distributed to the patients identified by BCAT. So, even if you can't partiicpate by making a panel, please come see what your fellow glass craft artisans have contributed to this wonderful project!
We're working on a new email list, and a new email address ... will keep you posted on both! In the meantime, come see us ... we have a great new coffee maker, so the coffee is always fresh & hot! Take care & happy glassing! |
