Breaking News!
Well, I don't know if anyone else is hitting panic mode, but there are less than 5 weeks until Christmas . . . and we're waaaaaaaay behind on our holiday crafting! Guess it's time to get cracking on those quick and easy gifts for family, friends, teachers and such!
We have a box class coming up that can help you get a grip on these quick and easies so check out the Special Events page.:
Holiday bevel clusters also can be made into great gifts in a short time. By adding a jewel or bead accent, each piece can be personalized to reflect individual tastes, and the project still will only take a few hours.
If precuts don’t sound like the route for you, come in to peruse the collection of holiday themed books! There is sure to be something to catch your eye, as projects depicted range from suncatchers to ornaments to complete nativity sets. Or how about a set of corner panels, to be changed out with the seasons? Most of these projects take very little glass, so the scrap and "uncategorized" bins can come in handy to make economical gifts for the season!
And to help you along: we’ll be offering a 10% discount on precut kits, holiday bevels, and red or green glass through the end of the year! Just be sure to remind us of the "online" special!
Glass Prices: We have received updates from Spectrum, Uroborus, and Bullseye about glass prices going up ~ no surprise there! However, they are all suspending production of the pinks and purples/lavenders that are manufactured using rare earth materials (mostly erbium). They are also tying prices for cranberry-based colors to the world gold market ~ in the past, the manufacturers have let the prices for these colors ride and adjusted them only on a semi-annual basis. Given the rapid fluctuation in gold prices, the manufacturers no longer can follow this practice. We have some of these colors "stockpiled" from earlier orders, but we may not be able to replace them until costs come down. As always, if you really need one of these colors, we will try to find it for you, but we wanted you to be aware that the costs have risen quite a bit on them!
FLOWERS OF HOPE: In other news, the 8th Annual Flowers of Hope exhibit has come down, and the panels have been delivered to the BCAT membes for distribution to the recipients. It was most rewarding to meet three of the recipients at the Artists' and Survivors' reception on October 13 at the Library. Thanks again to all the artists who participated ~ the display was just beautiful (as always!), and all the comments we have received have been positive. Take a little rest, and we'll start the 2012 project after the first of the year!!!
We're working on a new email list, and a new email address ... will keep you posted on both! In the meantime, come see us ... we have a great new coffee maker, so the coffee is always fresh & hot! Take care & happy glassing!
