Introduction to stained glass: leading

 

6-week (12-18 hours of studio / classroom instruction) course which introduces students to basics of glass cutting; creating a pattern; working with lead came; soldering; and finishing a panel. Course requires use of basic glass tools and extensive "homework"; access to studio time provided between classes. Normally taught one night per week.

*introduction to stained glass: copper foil

 

4-week (8 hours of classroom instruction) course which introduces students to basics of copper foiling, grinding, soldering, creating a beaded seam, patinas and finishing a panel/project.  Homework required.  Normally taught one night/day per week during the week.  Preliminary glass skills needed for success in this course. Occasionally taught as a one-day course.

introduction to stained glass: through the garden
6-week (12 hours of studio / classroom instruction) course which introduces students to basics of glass cutting; creating a pattern; and working with cement to create a stepping stone. Course requires use of basic glass tools and some homework; access to studio time provided between classes. Normally taught one night per week during the week
$60/person + materials
**quick and easy stepping stones

 

½ day (4-6 hour) course focusing on the creation of stained glass stepping stones, using pre-cut kits and mosaic tiles; no cutting involved. Focus is on proper fitting of pieces; cementing; and finishing of completed stones. [Weekend class]

introduction to copper foil

 

This one-day intensive class is taught at the intermediate level, and is for experienced glass crafters ONLY! It is not an entry level class, but a hands-on introduction to the copper foil technique. In order to complete the class in this limited time frame, pre-cut kits will be used and we will concentrating on foiling, soldering, and finishing techniques only.
$100/person including materials
introduction to panel lamp construction
Two-day (8-12 hours) course which introduces students to 3-three dimensional, panel-lamp construction using copper foil techniques.  Focus is on proper cutting, grinding, assembly of individual panels into complete lamp, patinas, and project strengthening techniques.  Extensive "homework" required to complete in a timely fashion. [Weekend classes normally.]
$65/person + materials
All classes are arranged on the basis of demand; minimum = 3; maximum class size ranges from 5-8, varies by course

This description and cost presupposes some glass experience.  If this class is taught as a true "introductory course" (no prior glass experience), costs will be $75 per person and class will be 6 weeks duration.

Additional courses in mosaics (picture frames and clocks) will be offered as requested.  Costs for these courses will vary depending on materials.
